Road Trip - April-May 2026 - #3 - Blue Skies
April 16, 2026
Our truck is back with us; it was finished last night. Since we are still here in Lynden, we decided to leave Saturday morning so we could go to my Aunt Shirley’s funeral tomorrow, which I had thought I would miss. That is one good thing that came of the delay.
Another good thing—awesome thing!—is that a friend of mine read my previous blog where I mourned the loss of my Lord of the Rings set and she found the same set on EBay. Here is our text exchange:
How amazing is that?! You can see I was trying to be brave when she said they were sold. But she bought them for me! I truly did cry. Tears of joy. I told her that she was doing God’s work of making something good come from something bad.
Today, after quite a bit of rain, we had a nice day. I went on a walk, which I haven’t been doing often enough lately. I kept thinking of the song “Blue Skies.” I don’t know the words. I kept singing, “Blue skies, nothin’ but blue skies, from now on,” over and over. If anyone had seen me, they would have wondered if I was trying to dance or something. I kept pirouetting to see the sky all around.
Sometimes, with the glare on the phone camera screen, it’s more like point-and-hope than point-and-click, but I managed to do pretty well tracking the flying geese.
The thatched roof house looked extra pretty with the colorful tulips, buds on the trees, and blue skies. :)
