Road Trip - April-May 2026 - #1 - Getting Ready
Wednesday, April 8, 2026
We’re leaving Friday! Randy got the trailer out of storage at Rolf V’s house and he’s been testing everything. It rained quite heavily and the trailer leaked quite a bit so we found a mobile RV guy who came over to help with that and to check everything. Randy put a special RV roof caulking all over and it seems to be okay now. Randy also cleaned everything up.
Today I did what I consider the worst job in the trailer—making the back “queen size” (no way!) bed where I sleep. Having to tuck in the edge against the back wall makes it a total pain. After I finally got it done, guess what I found? The mattress cover that was supposed to go on first! No mattress cover this time; I was not starting over!

“Queen sized” bed in back of trailer. No way it’s queen-sized. I sleep here and Randy sleeps in the other bed, made from the couch with the dining table.
See that wrinkled white thing in the corner? That’s the mattress cover I discovered AFTER I made the bed. And there it will stay!
The list. My attempt not to forget anything. Also the MiFi device that we sometimes use for wireless.
Our plan so far is:
Fremont, MI, where Randy grew up and has family. We also partially own the home of Randy’s (now deceased) parents
Grand Rapids, MI, where I will attend the Faith & Writing Festival at Calvin University, and stay with my brother and sister-in-law
Tucson, AZ, where we will attend my brother’s daughter’s wedding
Moab, AZ, where we will visit Arches National Park and other nearby sites
Portland, OR, where we will visit Randy’s two sisters
Back to Lynden.
God willing!
