Psalm 8

My friend Ruth van Baak Griffioen wrote these words of Psalm 8 to the tune of the Ashokan Farewell. It is beautiful to read/think/sing the words as you listen to the music.

Psalm 8

Oh Lord, our Lord, we bow before you,
How majestic in all of the earth is your name;
Your glory, O God, is sung above the heavens,
Your praise from their mouths even infants proclaim.

When I look at the heav'ns, the work of your fingers,
The moon and the stars which you made,
I wonder what man is....that you are mindful
And the son of man that your care is displayed.

Yet you have made us little lower than the angels,
And crowned us with glory and honor indeed;
For the works of your hands you have given us dominion
Over birds and beasts and the fish of the sea.

O Lord, our Lord, your name is majestic,
You care for us all of our days
Your glory's unending...all of your creatures
From earth up to heaven all join in your praise.
