Demo Day 1

Well, the wall is down. The first day of demo went well. The guys were very nice and did a good job leaving everything clean and tidy. Doug came by to go over the cabinet plans. Things look good. Now I need to give him choices for cabinet finishes, appliances, shower/bath fixtures, and tiles. We’ll live like this for a while now until we have that all figured out and ordered. I have a feeling it’ll be 3 weeks or so.

It was strange watching them load the carpet onto the truck. We had old, ratty, brown carpet for decades while the kids were growing up. It felt so nice when we bought new, cream-colored carpet that was soft and beautiful. We loved it. Seeing it ripped off and carted away like garbage made me feel kind of…nostalgic or something. Dumb, huh? Carpet causing emotion.

I’m going to try to use the time to keep packing so it’s not so much all at once. That’s my goal anyway.

Here are some pictures of the day.
